Viorela joined the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich in October 2017. She received her PhD in Communication Studies from the Free University of Berlin in 2016. She holds a master’s degree in Communication from the Ilmenau University of Technology (2009). Viorela was a Visiting Scholar at the BI Norwegian Business School (2009-2010) and the University of Texas at Austin (2012 and 2013). She participated in shorter exchange programs for research and teaching purposes with several other universities, including Indiana University, University of Vienna, University of Missouri, Central Michigan University and Université Paris-Est Créteil.
Viorela’s research interests include the correction of misinformation, framing (verbal and visual), health communication, and political communication. Her doctoral dissertation, titled Integrative Framing Analysis: Framing Health through Words and Visuals, was recently published by Routledge.
